A web user is an account that has its own web space and FTP access and is
separate from the main site. This means you can give other people the ability to
publish their own pages without having to worry about your own files and pages
being interfered with.
Once established, the web site for a web user can be viewed via http://www.yourdomain.com.au/~user
(replace "yourdomain.com.au" with your actual domain and
"user" with the actual web user name).
To set up a web user is a really simple process:
- Log into your hosting account control panel
- Click on the "Create a Web User Account" link displayed on your
control panel desktop
- Enter a username for the new user - must be between 5 and 14 characters
- Enter a password for this user
- That's all you'll need to do - just click OK and you're done!
You can now pass on the FTP access details to the person you set up the
account for as the account will be activated immediately.
The web user option is provided free with all Domain Registration Services' web
hosting plans, but please be aware that you assume responsibility for the
activities of any person whom you set up a web user account for. You should also
be vigilant in monitoring space being utilised by these users to ensure that
they do not take you over your hard disk space quota.
