All Domain Registration Services' web hosting plans include 24-hour, unlimited FTP access; plus a very powerful feature not offered by all web hosts - the ability to configure sub-FTP accounts!
What is FTP?
FTP is a standardised method of transferring files between computers, regardless of the platform or operating system each computer is running on. FTP services can be accessed through a command prompt, or through a more user-friendly FTP client program.
Free FTP software
One of the world's most popular FTP applications is FileZilla and it's also free! FileZilla is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. You can download Filezilla here
What is Sub FTP?
Sub FTP accounts allow you to provide separate FTP accounts which have allocated web space for these users under your domain name, but without giving them access to your own web site files.
For example, you can create a sub user called 'friend' under your domain name "example.com.au". You then specify a password for username friend and that's all there is to it - you have then created a web site www.example.com.au/~friend with its own ftp access, safely separated from your own files.
Sub FTP accounts can be set up and modified via the web users section of your hosting account control panel. While it's very simple to do, we also provide a step-by-step video tutorial ("Setting up a web user")
